Laketran is a client I’ve done a lot of work for in the past, both with Blackbird and freelance. They already have an establish brand, but to celebrate 50 years, they wanted to create a special emblem to use for marketing and events throughout the year.

Initial Concepts

I was already very familiar with their brand, and they had some examples from past year anniversaries they wanted to stay in line with. I pulled in a lot of imagery for these, elements from their brand, bus tokens, the stop markers they use on their route maps, bus wheels and forward momentum.

Final Set

For the final 4 concepts I created full-color and 1-color designs on both dark and light backgrounds to ensure they had good legibility and contrast. I also made sure to create a design that could be adapted for use as an enamel pin since that was something they wanted to create with these.
